It seems that QR Codes are really starting to be embraced by the masses.  As an early adopter of QR Code Technology this makes me really happy.    Although QR Codes are starting to be more mainstream there are still a bit of confusion about their usefulness.  So I am always thinking of new and innovative ways that different industries could use QR Codes.

I am a firm believer in creating an avenue to utilize as much technology as possible within the education industry, specifically higher education.  I have witnessed some uses of technology but we could do more and QR could be a great fit in expanding our collegiate technological growth.

Since QR Codes really appeal to people that are really into grabbing quick bits of beneficial information by way of mobile device, why not use them in Higher Education?

A few great ways that professors could use QR Codes:

  • Add QR Codes to the class syllabus: This could link to the professors blog and could supply more information about the class, essential links, reading materials etc.
  • Post QR Code on the classroom door:  Create a QR Code for students that may not be able to make it to class for whatever reason. Link this to a video recording of that days class.
  • Create QR Code VCards: This would allow students to have the contact information of the professor.

These are just a few ways that college professors could utilize QR Codes in a college setting.  The tips are useful and beneficial to student as well as professor.
